There are seven matches in the Premier League tonight. All eyes will be on the Emirates Stadium where title contenders Arsenal and Man City clash. The match has added spice given Chelsea’s latest stumbles leaving the pair as United’s main rivals for the title on current form. As it stands United are 10/11 favourites, Arsenal second favourites at 7/2, Chelsea 5/1 and City 6/1.
Arsenal are a good bet tonight to keep the pressure on United at 10/11 against City. They need a win desperately to keep up with United after their 2-1 win over Stoke last night.
Toure and Adebayor who had to seperated by teammates at training on Tuesday. This isn’t the first in fighting at the club this season with previous bust ups between Milner and Toure, Balotelli and Boateng, and Tevez and Mancini.
Team spirit at City can’t be great following Toure and Adebayor’s training ground bust up on Tuesday. Add to that their very poor record away to the Gunners, they haven’t won in North London since 1975 and have failed to score at the Emirates on their last three visits. City are also missing their creative spark tonight with David Silva and Mario Balotelli missing. For all the stick that Balotell gets he has been scoring goals for the Eastlanders. Silva has been in great form also, being named the club player of the month for November and December.
Arsenal come into the game in decent form, on the back of a 3-0 win away to Birmingham and their demolition of an albeit struggling Chelsea team three matches ago. The return of a scoring Robin Van Persie is a great boost to the club as well and I fancy them to win and take second place tonight in the race for the title.
I also fancy Arsenal’s North London neighbours Tottenham to get a win away to Everton tonight at 9/5. Harry Redknapp said recently that he believed Spurs were serious contenders for the title this season and Alex Ferguson agreed with him. Whether or not they actually are contenders is another question though it is no doubt that they have seriously improved this season mainly due to the emergence of Gareth Bale and the signing of the brilliant Rafael Van Der Vaart. Spurs have won six of their last eight matches and are unbeaten in their last eleven so they will be brimming with confidence tonight.
Everton on the other hand have started the season even slower than they normally do, sitting in lowly thirteenth place not far off the relegation zone. They will be even further pushed tonight with the absence of two of their stars. Recent England call up Phil Jagielka is out with an injury and their top scorer Tim Cahill is away on international duty with Australia in the Asia Cup.
Everton will sorely miss their main goal threat Tim Cahill who is away on international duty.
Recommendations:
Tottenham (9/5) to beat Everton
Arsenal (10/11) to beat Man City
